20th National Conference of Education Science

  • The 20th National Conference of Education Science hosted by The UD Institute of Educational Studies and Cultural Management and The Maria Kopp Institute for Demography and Families ended successfully. This year's conference title was: "Family in the Focus of Education". These conference series were initiated by The Hungarian Academy of Sciences and its Scientific Committee on Pedagogy which oversees the implementation of its activities. In the framework of the Hungarian Science Festival program series. The Conference is organized by a distinct university every year. UD won the right to host the conference for the second time. The conference was chaired by Ágnes Engler (UD Faculty of Humanities) and its secretary was Veronika Bocsi (UD Faculty of Child and Special Education). The organizing committee was formed by the staff of the UD Faculty of Humanities Institute of Educational Studies and Cultural Management and The Maria Kopp Institute for Demography and Families. Students majoring in BA in Pedagogy and PHD students in the Doctoral Programme in Education have participated actively in implementation. UD Faculty of Humanities would have provided a worthy venue for the three-day event, which numbered more than 500 registered participants from 90 different institutions, but due to the epidemiological situation, the conference had to move to the online space. The design and operation of the online interface was provided by the UD Multimedia and E-learning Technical Centre. The real-time presentations went scheduled over the three days. A total of 355 lectures were given in 86 sections, presented by about 400 researchers. An average of 200 people in each section lane have joined to one of the online rooms, listing different topics. The conference chair, in her closing remarks, emphasized the importance of the power of collaboration, as they were prepared in a double scenario during the one-year preparation (physical presence and online implementation), but due the increased efforts and despite the epidemiological uncertainty, now they may have a successful event behind them. At the end of the conference, the baton was taken over virtually by the University of Szeged. Among the best wishes of the President, she highlighted that she hopes that the many handshakes which were missing during the conference hopefully will be make up next year of The National Conference of Education Science
