DEL Language Fair

For the second time in two years, the Department of English Linguistics (DEL) hosted the DEL Language Fair on April 22, where MA and PhD students had the opportunity to present their research on a variety of different languages in front of an audience of students and faculty members. An important goal of this workshop series is to create a platform for both undergraduate and graduate students to talk about their research projects and receive feedback from fellow students and faculty. The Language Fair, which took place online both this year and last year, is a useful initiative inasmuch as it promotes linguistic research and helps build a lively community in the department. According to the organizers, the workshop series has already had some welcome consequences: three of our students who had participated in last year’s workshop presented their research at the 35th National Student Conference (OTDK) and two of them were awarded second or third place for their research in linguistics. The 23 presentations that have been presented so far on 18 different languages (e.g. Hungarian, English, Arabic, Lovari, Finnish, Albanian, French, Latin and Georgian) at the DEL Language Fair can be viewed on this website: https://dellanguagefair.wordpress.com/.
