The first stage of the programme launched to research the Hungarian community of Montreal was completed successfully, its results were presented at Concordia University jointly by the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen and the staff of the General Consulate of Hungary in Montreal. At the event held in Canada in mid-June, it was also announced that the research fields of the participants further expanded.

This program aims to provide distinguished PhD holders who were also Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holders with an opportunity to pursue their research under the mentorship of their previous supervisors.

The Chinese students who are enrolled at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen have received their Hungarian diplomas, as first in the history of our institution and faculty to earn a Master's degree (MA). Quite a few of these graduates plan to make use of their knowledge and skills in the future in Hungary.

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Debrecen and Sunway University in Malaysia are to expand their bilateral cooperation through a new joint research and academic programme. Faculty members from the two institutions are currently processing material on the trip to Borneo by János Xántus in 1870, documenting the experiences of the famous Hungarian traveller and naturalist in two volumes both in English and Hungarian.

The participation of students from the University of Debrecen was a success and a pleasant surprise in the 23rd Chinese Bridge International Chinese Language Competition held at the University of Pécs. Abigél Kota finished third, while János Szekeres received a special prize at the Hungarian qualification final of this international competition.

The Department of British Culture of the Institute of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen (DE) has organised a symposium to strengthen international relations and scientific communication. The event also included a workshop for language teachers on corporate communication, organized by the companies British Telecommunications, Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, Schaeffler Debrecen and Transcosmos Hungary.
