The Institute of German Studies of the University of Debrecen and the German Cultural Forum of Debrecen organized an international translation conference on April 22. The online conference focused on the difficulties and challenges posed by the pandemic that translators and trainers involved in translation training faced during the epidemiological period.

For the second time in two years, the Department of English Linguistics (DEL) hosted the DEL Language Fair on April 22, where MA and PhD students had the opportunity to present their research on a variety of different languages in front of an audience of students and faculty members. An important goal of this workshop series is to create a platform for both undergraduate and graduate students to talk about their research projects and receive feedback from fellow students and faculty.

The conference titled ’Writers’ Economy in the 19th-20th Centuries: Undertaking and Investment from Kazinczy to Jókai and beyond’ was held online on the 29th and 30th of January, 2021. The event was organised by the MTA-BTK Momentum Political Economy of Hungarian Literature Research Group and University of Debrecen.

DAY OF HUNGARIAN SCIENCE

The 20th National Conference of Education Science hosted by The UD Institute of Educational Studies and Cultural Management and The Maria Kopp Institute for Demography and Families ended successfully. This year's conference title was: "Family in the Focus of Education". These conference series were initiated by The Hungarian Academy of Sciences and its Scientific Committee on Pedagogy which oversees the implementation of its activities. In the framework of the Hungarian Science Festival program series.

Three book launches have been organized within the framework of the celebrations of Hungarian Science. The first book launch took place on the 12th of November where the works of researchers were presented from the Institute of Educational Studies and Cultural Management of the University of Debrecen. All of the three volumes were edited in international cooperation in English. Ágnes Engler, Magdolna Chrappán, and Tímea Ceglédi published one chapter each in the three books.

  The Institute of English and American Studies is organising the Faculty Round of the 35th OTDK competition on 26–27 November 2020. The Department of British Studies and the North American Department are responsible for the literature and culture division (coordinators: Dr. Eszter Ureczky, Dr. Imola Bülgözdi) , while the Department of English Linguistics is focusing on linguistic research (coordinator: Dr. Péter Szűcs).  

    The Institute of English and American Studies held an online event as part of this year’s Hungarian Science Festival with the title “The Future of Linguistic, Language Teaching, History Studies, and Film Studies at the Institute of English and American Studies”. The program took place in Hungarian on 12 November 2020 and featured all four departments of the institute, the Facebook event is available here:
